Pahang’s Rompin State Park may be Malaysia’s world-class adventure racing venue.
Tourism Malaysia’s senior director of strategic planning, Syed Yahya Syed Othman, said the 31,797 hectares of rainforest offers an authentic wilderness experience and a race on unique terrain.
Highlights include the majestic Seri Mahkota, a 50-meter-high waterfall with a cave in the middle.
The rock formation dates back some 248 million years, while its pristine rainforests span many forest types.
The appeal of Rompin State Park is that it’s perfect for short, fast and fun adventure runs suitable for anyone with a keen sense of the outdoors. It will be a celebration of all that is good about exploration, achievement, teamwork and connecting people around the world.

This would encourage a positive experience for visitors while minimizing the environmental impact of tourism.

An adventure race is a competition in which teams compete in a long-distance race involving two or more sports disciplines.
In the AR Rompin Asia Series adventure race, professional racers raced for championship glory over the 80km course, navigating with only a map and compass.
There were also plenty of challenges for both beginners and experienced runners who took part in the fun run category.
Race director James Chee said the 80km route included mountain biking, trail running, tubing, abseiling and zip lines.
The course started with a 2.5km run, followed by 2.5km of tubing, 6km of trail running and followed by 55km of mountain biking.
Competitors then abseiled 40 meters, followed by 55 meters of Tyrolean traverse, before culminating with a further 60 meters abseiling to the bottom of Seri Mahkota Falls.
Adventure racing is a multi-disciplinary team sport that uses a map and compass to navigate the course through checkpoints. Competitors must stick together as adventure racing is a team event, not a relay race.
Race director James Chee at TRP on adventure racing.
He said anyone with a basic fitness level can come in and have fun.
Adventure racing makes people realize that they can do complex things beyond the limit of their usual comfort zone.
Chee added that adventure racing makes people more tactically intelligent, resilient and self-reliant.
