SHAH ALAM – Police have opened three investigative documents into the threatening messages received by sports commentator Hafizal Hamad last Saturday through the Instagram page “antimediababi”.
Shah Alam District Police Chief Deputy Commissioner Mohd. Iqbal Ibrahim said his party confirmed that it received a report made by a sports commentator at 1am today (August 31) as the message in question was causing problems for him and his family.
He said among his messages were “again, I will face negative criticism of all Malaysian athletes” and “I will order death to wait in front of my house”.
“The results of the initial investigation found that the complainant touched the decline of national badminton player Lee Zhi Jia while commenting on the show ‘Nindia Pak Long’.
“The complainant suspects that this matter may have caused discontent among certain parties,” he said in a statement today.
He insisted that the case be investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Juvenile Offenses Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
“Therefore, any information related to this case can be channeled to Investigating Officer Inspector Hadi at 016-2745515,” he explained.
