Shootings near Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia

Seven people, including several students, were hospitalized after a shooting near Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., early Sunday, authorities said.

Norfolk police officers responded around midnight to a call of a shooting on the 5000 block of Killiam Avenue, less than a mile from campus, officials said.

Two of the seven suffered “life-threatening” injuries, police said.

“Several” of the victims are students at Norfolk State University across town, the school said on Twitter Sunday morning.

The school’s tweet referred to the shooting as an “isolated off-campus” incident.

“NSU police secured the NSU campus. Counseling is made available to any student in need of services,” the tweet reads.
