Some Liverpool fans have taken to social media to express their thoughts after Naby Keita was left out of the Reds’ squad for the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Liverpool have named their 24-man squad for their Champions League group stage matches. Summer signings Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay and Arthur Melo also made differences.

However, there are two major absentees in the Reds squad, with Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ruled out. Both midfielders have seemingly missed out on a place in the squad due to injuries.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out of pre-season, while Keita has not played since Liverpool’s Community Shield win over Manchester City. The Guinean is said to be nursing a muscle injury.

Keita, whose spell at Anfield has been blighted by injuries, is out of contract with the Merseyside outfit next summer. There have been suggestions that he could leave the club during the recently concluded transfer window.

The 27-year-old’s lack of availability following his £52.75m arrival from RB Leipzig in 2018 has often left fans fuming. Claims that he wants out of the club only added to his frustration.

Keita has once again become a source of frustration for Liverpool supporters after being left out of the club’s Champions League squad. Some have gone so far as to say the player has messed with Jurgen Klopp.

Here are some of the best tweets about Keita being left out of the Reds’ Champions League squad:

One fan speculated on Twitter:

“Keita is leaving in January. He’s certainly fallen out with Klopp, plus he wasn’t to be seen around the injured at Anfield.”

@TheAnfieldTalk Keita leaves in January. It certainly fell out with Klopp + he was nowhere to be seen near the injured at Anfield

@TheAnfieldTalk That means Keita has been unavailable for a long time…sigh. I want to see him on mid NFT again, man.

A Liverpool fan using the username Sean wrote:

“I have no idea how his [Keita’s] Fanbody didn’t even realize he was ours [Paul] Pogba. If a player hasn’t won an entire fan base after four years, he’s clearly not right.”

Keita is one of the worst autographs I’ve done, absolutely useless

@dmlynch He must leave as soon as possible. The first offer that comes in January must be accepted. What a waste of money it turned out to be.

Klopp’s side cannot change their squad for the European competition until January. However, it is worth noting that the Champions League group matches will end earlier than usual this term due to the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022.

The Anfield outfit’s final match of the competition in the group stage is expected to take place on November 1. It remains to be seen if Keita will be in the squad if the team makes it to the knockout stage.
