Wednesday, May 11, 2016 Instagram has finally updated its Android and iOS apps. By using flat design as a basic concept, Instagram completely changes its logo/icon so that it is very far from the old logo.
Likewise with supporting apps like Layout, Hyperlapse, and Boomerang, which haven’t even been operational for a year, all changed their logos with the same concept.
The reason for this big Instagram logo change is that Ian Spalter, Instagram’s head of design, wants Instagram to better represent its users. According to him, the old Instagram logo or icon does not reflect Instagram users or the community.
“Instagram’s logo and design started to feel, well… not reflective of the community, and frankly, we thought we could improve it”
This more colorful logo is considered more representative of the Instagram user community, with colorful icons depicting millions of different Instagram photos uploaded by Instagram users.
