Warzone’s “friend list not showing” issue, which prevents players from appearing on your friends list, is still a constant threat in Season 5. Here are some solutions to hopefully fix this bug in both Call of Duty games.
It is undoubtedly frustrating when the only thing you want to do is play an online game and certain factors prevent you from doing so. Besides the obvious internet connectivity worries, there’s also Warzone’s infamous “Checking for Update” bug and Xbox players can’t even launch the game.
Another issue is a buggy friends list that doesn’t let you see someone else online even if they’re online, and it’s back in Warzone Pacific Season 5, leaving you unable to invite them. As always, we have a few ways that might help you and fix the problem.
How to make your friends list visible in Warzone
You’ll know if the issue is affecting you because when you select Warzone’s social tab and try to inspect your friends, you’ll be hit with “friend list not showing”.
Just to double check that your friends are indeed online, just quickly open the general friends list for the console or platform you’re playing on first to check. If they are showing online, then use our methods to make them appear online on Call of Duty as well.
Here are the most effective ways to work around the problem.
Not only is it a way to fix a computer, but the classic “have you tried turning it off and on again?” it might also bring back your Warzone friends list. Close the Warzone app completely and open it again and hopefully your friends list will be back.
Use match-specific search settings
One method that many players have had success with in Season 5 is to search for a party with very specific search settings, then queue at the same time as your friends. It won’t bring the list back, but you’ll be able to party with your friends.
Here’s all you need to do:
- Launch Warzone
- Select the ‘Search Party’ option at the bottom right
- Press the “Party search settings” button and make sure your party uses the same settings. E.g:
- BR Quads
- Slow and steady
- Press “Start Party Search” at the same time
Connect Warzone with Discord
Many players have reported great success using the official Discord service to connect with their friends and enter games together.
To connect with Discord:
- All players must have Discord activity status set to “On”
- Make sure you have connected your “Battle.net” account to Discord
- Have everyone launch Warzone or Modern Warfare
- Then all players should join from the same Discord
Additionally, Discord has arrived on Xbox and is expected to arrive on PlayStation next year, so connecting with friends across multiple platforms will be even easier.
Disable Warzone Crossplay
Disabling crossplay in Warzone has been known to help game invites go through when you encounter friends list that doesn’t show errors, so here’s what you need to do:
- Make your way into the “Options” setting in Warzone or Modern Warfare
- Select your account
- Toggle the “Crossplay” feature from on to off
- Restart the game
- See if it worked and if it worked or not, re-enable Crossplay and see if the result changes with it
Simplest and easiest idea to try, just leave it and hope it works itself out. Believe it or not, waiting 30-60 seconds could fix it and save you a lot of time than the above fixes.
It won’t work for everyone, but it’s another solution to try and help with this persistent, long-term issue in Warzone and Modern Warfare 2019.
