The England international equalized with the former striker with a late header that salvaged a point against last weekend.

However, after his second-half header broke the deadlock against Wolves, Kane now stands alone as the top scorer for a single Premier League club with 185 goals as he continues to approach the all-time record the times of Alan Shearer.

Spurs endured a frustrating opening 45 minutes against Bruno Lage’s side but turned the tide after the restart as they upped the ante at Antonio Conte’s behest.

Kane had already hit the crossbar with a powerful header, but made amends in the 64th minute from close range after Ivan Perisic headed Son Heung-min’s corner in at the near post.

The poacher’s typical effort proved to be the only goal of the game as Spurs moved, at least temporarily, to the top of the table, Kane moving within 16 goals of Jimmy Greaves’ all-time record at Tottenham.

“Turn around though and there are photos on the walls of us holding trophies and stuff. Harry wants this and needs this.

“He’s a Tottenham man and he’s got his best opportunity with this team since he’s been here in the first team.

“I really feel that the domestic cups will be their priority, of course the Champions League, but now they have a team here that is as strong as most people.

“Not Manchester City and Liverpool, maybe, but they’re up there with everyone else and they’re competing toe-to-toe with everyone.

“So I think Harry has a very good opportunity this year to go and get a trophy.”
