You try to make a call on your iPhone 13 and suddenly a box appears saying “Last line is no longer available”. That’s strange. Your iPhone 13 worked a moment ago. What is happening and why is there an error? Here’s what you can do fix “Last line no longer available” on iPhone 13 and what does it mean.

Update your iOS device

It goes without saying that many bugs can be fixed with a simple update. After all, Apple devices aren’t perfect. There may have been enough fuss over a recent bug causing the problem that Apple quickly released an update to fix it.

  1. Open Settings and go to General.
  2. Now select Software Update.
  3. Select Download and Install.
  4. Go back to Settings and choose General again.
  5. Choose About, then allow any available updates.

If that fails, force a restart. Depending on your iPhone model, it’s either a combination of pressing the Home button and the Volume Down button, or the Home button and the Home button.

Turn airplane mode on and off

An odd but possible workaround is to use Airplane mode. What it does, when enabled, is prevent the iPhone from sending or receiving messages, calls, and even the browser. Using it is a great way to perform a network soft reset.

  1. Open the canopy of the iPhone.
  2. Find an icon that looks like an airplane. This is Airplane mode.
  3. Tap Airplane Mode to activate it. Leave for a minute, then turn off Airplane Mode.

Reinsert the SIM cards

Since this is a problem caused by dual SIM compatible iPhones, there might be a conflict between the two. So, not only should you reinsert the SIM cards, but also try to switch to the SIM card that is not in use.

  1. Get a sim card ejector clip.
  2. Open the SIM card tray and remove the SIM cards, then insert them.
  3. Try making a call. If you get the same error, go to the next step.
  4. Open Settings and choose Mobile/Cellular Data.
  5. Find “Activate this line” and choose the opposite plan.

Clear all recent and Disable/Enable Wi-Fi calling

Another possible solution is Wi-Fi calling and clearing recent calls. Both are their own fixes, but I’ve combined them for a better chance of success.

  1. Launch the Phone app and access your recent calls.
  2. Select Edit in the top right corner.
  3. Select Delete in the top left corner.
  4. When prompted, choose to delete all recent items.
  5. Now go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling.
  6. Try making a call with Wi-Fi Calling off and on.

And if all else fails, you might as well reset your network settings.

  1. Open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. When prompted, choose Reset Network Settings.
