DESIRE Owning a luxury car is definitely every man’s dream.

Sometimes n4fsu to fulfill this need exceeds our own abilities and needs.

That’s what 31-year-old Mohamed Ridzuan Mohamed Bukhori said when he sold his Volkswagen Passat B8 Highline car and now chose to use a Malaysian-made car, a used Proton Persona.

“I was always interested in sedan cars like the Honda City or Toyota Camry, but at the time I was still learning, so I used a Perodua Viva.

“In 2019, I decided to upgrade to a new car. I walk a lot showroom for test drive luxury cars. I have tried driving Honda, Toyota, Hyundai and Mazda including Volkswagen.

“When I tried driving a Volkswagen car, I was always drawn to the Passat’s quickness and solid steering control. Without thinking twice, I immediately booked the car,” he said mStar.

Ciwan, who started working as a doctor at Klinik Kesihatan Beseri, Perlis since 2016, explained that he had no knowledge of finance and savings when he made the purchase.

He added that the car was bought when he was already the father of a child by paying a deposit of 6,000 lei.

“I bought the car with that in mind enjoy only the car was bought at the price of 195,000 lei and the insurance for 5,000 lei. At that time I was offered a discount of RM20,000 and I took a bank loan of only RM170,000.

Ciwan is a doctor working since 2016.

“Every month I have to pay installments of almost 2,000 lei for the car. Even though the salary was 5,000 to 6,000 RM at that time and there was a secondary income for a private house of 2,000 RON, I didn’t realize that I still didn’t deserve to buy such a car.” Ciwan explained.

He said that he has been married since 2017, he began to realize that his commitment to life was growing because at the time he also bought a house, his wife was pregnant with their second child.

Accepting the current needs, Ciwan finally sold his beloved car in April 2022 at a price of RM120,000 and switched to a used car with a lower monthly payment.

“I began to realize that life’s commitment was beyond my capacity since I attended a real estate and financial management seminar earlier that year. Since then I know a little about finance.

Ciwan is the father of two children.

“At the beginning of March this year, I decided to sell the Passat. I advertised on Facebook to find a buyer, although I was reluctant to let it go. A month ago the car was sold but I had to add RM30,000 to the bank because the price of the car was less than the loan balance.

“Then we looked for a used car to replace the car. I need a big car so it will be more comfortable to bring my family. Alhamdulillah, I found a 2017 Proton Perdana car at the price of P60,000,” said Ciwan.

Ciwan’s decision is fully supported by his family and friends who respect this drastic step.

Meanwhile, Ciwan reminded the public to make the right arrangements before buying their dream car.

He said, we should not be ashamed to use a cheaper car according to our present abilities.
