All the trailers for Black Myth: Wukong have looked amazing so far, but each one has focused on horrible monsters and fighting horrible monsters. Today’s new trailer takes a different tack. It’s a six-minute scene where some sisters discuss their mothers’ impending marriage, but it’s no less beautiful to watch.
In addition, if you stick to very Finally, you will still be able to see a new horrible monster.
It is a very large spider.
Black Myth: Wukong is inspired by the 16th century Chinese novel Journey To The West and is developed by Chinese game developer Game Science. These roots give his world and character design a fresh flavor, like hanging lanterns that shout “Celebrate!” over and over in the video above. But it’s also the rare game from 2022 that still impresses with sheer graphical fidelity.
It seems unlikely that you’ll have time to admire that fidelity while playing. Black Myth: Wukong is a third-person action game where you’ll dodge, run, and time your melee attacks against enemies several times your size. The most obvious modern point of contact is Dark Souls, although there is much that is not yet apparent about the way the game is structured, so the comparison might prove rather superficial.
If you want to get a better idea of what the combat is like, you can watch previous trailers featuring a giant wolf, a giant rat, and a giant snowy dragon. You can also find some details and lots of screenshots on its official website.
